The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 28.1 was designed as an easily managed, family coastal cruiser with rewarding sailing performance. The accommodation is suited to 4 but can take more should the need arise. Based on Windermere from new.

Construction

GRP construction with a wing keel (1.50m draft), spade rudder with tiller steering.

Mechanicals

Powered by a Yannmar 2GM20 18hp inboard diesel with shaft driven 2 bladed propeller. 2 x 12 V batteries provide engine start and service power, these charging via the engine and shore power. 

Sails and Rigging

Deck stepped alloy mast and spars with stainless wire standing rigging and adjustable back stay. Slab reefing Mainsail with Lazy Jack bag and a roller furling Genoa.

Accommodation

"Manhattan" can sleep up to 5 or 6 crew with an aft double cabin and the remaining berths in the open plan saloon and V berth. The galley has a 2 burner alchohol hob, sink with pressurised hot and cold water, cool box and storage. Chart table to starboard and a separate head with chemical toilet and wash basin. A full cockpit enclosure prodes a good amount of additional covered space and makes the boat more comfortable into the winter months.
