Construction

At first glance you could be forgiven for thinking that the boat was a Jaguar 25. There are some subtle differences and the Caravela 25 is just that bit more sleek in appearance. For a 25 footer you will be quite impressed with the room in the cockpit and below decks.

GRP constructed hull with red gel coat topsides and white coachroof and deck. Deep cockpit with sole and benches covered with slatted wood for comfort. Large sail locker to starboard. Transom hung rudder with teak tiller steering.

Going forward is both safe and easy. The side decks are relatively wide and the combination of stainless steel guard wires, stanchions and handily placed grab rails ensure the safe passage forward of the crew when deploying the ground tackle. Self bailing anchor well in bow with lid.

Engines

Vessel powered by a single cylinder Yanmar YSM8 inboard diesel engine with reduction gearbox driving a stainless steel shaft and 2-bladed fixed propeller. Engine is housed in a sound proofed compartment beneath the companionway and has good access for daily checks and annual servicing. Single lever engine control in cockpit with forward and reverse gearing. Engine control panel with visual and audible warnings for water temperature, oil pressure and charging output.

Bank of two 12V batteries providing engine start and domestic power. These are recharged via the engine alternator or by the battery charger when attached to shore power.

  • Batteries new 2013
  • Shore power
  • Battery charger
Sails and Rigging

Bermudan sloop rigged yacht with deck stepped aluminium spars and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging support the mast. running rigging is braid on braid terylene rope of varying thickness. The majority of these are led aft to the helm making single handed sailing very easy indeed. Vessel rigged for spinnaker including conventional pole.

Sail suit, although old, are serviceable and in a fair to good condition. These include:

  • Mainsail with sail cover
  • Furling genoa
  • Spinnaker with pole
Accommodation and layout

Below decks is snug and comfortable. The velour fabrics and wood panelling give that classic feel. The saloon is entered via the companionway.  Immediately to starboard is the large Vis a Vis dinette with seating for four persons in comfort. This converts to a sizeable double by dropping the table and using the back rest cushions.

opposite the seating area is the galley with gas fuelled oven with two burner hob and grill, Stainless steel sink with removable cover that doubles as a preparation area. at the aft end of the galley is a large quarter berth.

Forward of the saloon seating area behind the bulkhead is the heads compartment. This is fitted with both a marine heads and a chemical heads for use here on the lake.

In the bow is the fore peak double with deck hatch above for ventilation.
