Wigeon of Fearn represents a unique opportunity to purchase a classic 1936 Gentlemans Yacht which has been carefully restored and improved to a high standard as a live-a-board home. During her long history she has been commandeered by the Royal Navy for anti-submarine duties and has cruised in the Mediterranean Sea. 6 berths in 3 cabins, 2 wet rooms with showers, bespoke galley in cherry and Mahogany, heating throughout with underfloor heating in the master bedroom and deck saloon. Constructed by James Miller & Sons of Fife in 1936 and listed in the National Register of Historic Vessels.
Constructed in wood with Carvel hull in Teak and Teak decks and superstructure. All hull and deck corking has been renewed as part of the refurbishment. The interior is finished in a mixture of Teak, Cherry and Mahagony giving a rich, warm feel to the cabins. Insulated head linings have been fitted throughout, along with heating and the deck saloon benefits from double glazing.
Long keel with bilge plates and semi balanced rudder, wheel steering and a draft of 1.75m.
A set of full covers mounted on an external frame provide protection from the worst of the weather.
The vessel is powered by a pair of 79hp Ford Iveco 7450 Diesel engines fitted in 1996 driving 2 x 3-bladed fixed bronze propellers. The port engine has 64 hours use and the starboard engine 114. She carries 1200ltrs of fuel in 2 tanks and 1200ltrs of fresh water in a single tank beneath the master cabin berth.
The boat has been re-wired and fuel and water gauges replaced. Shore power is fitted and there is a Kaboto generator (approx' 400 hrs use) for when living off the grid.
A bank of 8 x 12V batteries supplies engine start and domestic power when not connected to shore power.
Accommodation and layout
Wigeon has accommodation for 6 adults in 3 cabins. The fore cabin has 2 single berths, portholes and hatch, leather seating, bookshelves, cupboards and drawers. Moving aft, is the galley and dining saloon which have been fully refurbished. The well equipped galley has a 4 burner hob with grill and 2 ovens, 2 x microwave ovens, sink with pressurised hot and cold water, fridge, freezer (in wheel house) and a good array of storage.
The master cabin has a king size bed, twin wardrobes, dressing table, seating and underfloor heating. Wet room / heads with electric toilet, shower, wash basin and heated towel rail.
The large deck saloon also has underfloor heating below new Mahogany flooring, the original saloon table and double glazing, writing bureau, chart drawers and bookcase amongst other features. There is also an office area.
The aft twin cabin is accessed through the raised rear deck, is completely separate from the rest of the boat and incorporates the second wet room with shower and toilet.
The wheel house contains all the navigation instruments and the Waeco freezer. The VHF radio has an extension to the office.
All main cabin doors are of solid Mahogany and are lockable for security. The vessel is equipped with security cameras and an alarm system.
